About Us

Glasgow has been a hub for freestyle Wrestling for many years dating way back to the 70s when a record number of clubs were around. Over the past 30 years this number has dwindled and there are only a few remaining. However over the past 10 years since the Commonwealth Games was in Glasgow in 2014 there has been a small number of dedicated individuals that refused to let this great sport disappear.

For some time Scottish Wrestling was on the brink and living in survival mode. However 2024 has seen a resurgence and an increase in participation and like the logo of the Phoenix suggests, we have risen from the ashes.

We have reinvented how Wrestling in Scotland is taught and we want to bring you on this journey with us. Our aim is that you enjoy wrestling, learn new skills and, if you choose to, compete in national and international competitions.

We provide an environment that will encourage you to:

• Enjoy the sport of wrestling

• Become physically fitter

• Become mentally tougher

• Become tactically smarter

• Become technically superior

• Be present and not worry about results

We teach you how to fall safely, we show you how to execute moves, outwit opponents and develop skills that may be used to help defend yourself if the situation ever required it but we always promote and expect you to have respect for the coaches, your team mates and most importantly your competitors.

We want to help you to win!!! but we want you to be graceful in defeat.
